Les Paul Classic Custom now in stock!

We are so pleased to tell you we have the Les Paul Classic Custom now in stock. When guitarist and inventor Les Paul conceived the Custom model in the mid-1950s, he envisioned it as a “black tie” guitar suitable for the most elegant occasions. In the years since then, the Les Paul Classic Custom has come to represent all of that and more.
The most dressed-up of the Les Paul production line, the Custom is nevertheless a full-bore rocker, suitable for the heaviest riffs you want to throw at it, while still excelling on the blues, jazz, pop or fusion stage. The Les Paul Classic Custom from Gibson USA stays true to its heritage, keeping the unique touches that make it stand out at a price players will appreciate. Featuring premium tonewoods and top-flight appointments, this is an instrument of astounding beauty and surprising versatility.
Choice and Les Paul Classic Custom
With all the legendary power of the Les Paul Standard, and a Custom look that stands out from the crowd, the Les Paul Classic Custom is available in your choice of five stunning high-gloss nitrocellulose finishes: Antique Natural, Goldtop, Cream, Wine Red and Ebony Black, all with chrome-plated hardware for a look that is subtly elegant.
It’s all in the detail
As with the best Les Pauls crafted since the early ’50s, the Les Paul Classic Custom starts with the legendary tonewood pairing of a solid carved maple top glued to a mahogany body. Marrying maple’s clarity and definition to mahogany’s richness and depth produces a tonal complexity that no single-wood guitar has ever matched. Its resonance and sustain are only further enhanced by the deep-set quarter-sawn mahogany neck with 17-degree back-angled headstock. Optimum playability is ensured by a slim, comfortable neck profile that measures .800” at the 1st fret and .875” at the 12th. The guitar’s 22-fret fingerboard is made from Baked Maple, a heat-treated hardwood that offers a clear tone and extreme durability, and inlaid with acrylic block markers, enhanced by a mother of pearl Gibson headstock logo and acrylic split-diamond inlay.
To ensure that all of these constructional features translate to the purest, richest tone possible, Gibson loads the Les Paul Classic Custom with a pair of ’57 Classic humbucking pickups, routed through the traditional four-knob and three-way switch control section. Made with genuine Alnico II magnets and wound with enamel-coated 42-AWG wire just like the hallowed PAF pickups of the late 1950s and early ’60s, the ’57 Classics yield creamy warm tones in the neck position and plenty of growl and snarl in the bridge, with funky, round tones in between. A pairing of Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece ensure solid sustain and accurate intonation, while a set of premium Grover kidney-button tuners make tune-up a breeze.
Each guitar comes protected in a black hardshell case with plush lining, and includes an owner’s manual and adjustment literature, and is covered by Gibson’s Limited Lifetime Warranty and 24/7/365 customer service. Visit our  online guitar shop to see more of these gorgeous guitars.

NAMM 2012: Fender introduces new Blacktop guitar models

Stratocaster HSH, Telecaster Baritone, Jaguar 90

NAMM 2012 PRESS RELEASE: Fender is proud to introduce three highly distinctive new additions to its acclaimed Blacktop series, a family that expands the sonic horizons of classic Fender models with high-powered features and design modifications. The three new instruments are the Blacktop Telecaster Baritone, Blacktop Stratocaster HSH and Blacktop Jaguar 90.

The Blacktop series presents a truly unique new model in the deeply resounding form of the Blacktop Telecaster Baritone guitar. A true baritone Telecaster, it creates a rich sound of distinctive depth and character with a 27″ scale, lowdown B-to-B tuning, and a tonally versatile triple-pickup configuration—including a full-throated humbucking bridge pickup—that covers the entire sonic spectrum from tic-tac twang to full-on kerrang!

The instrument features an alder body, maple neck, 9.5″-radius rosewood fretboard with 22 medium jumbo frets and aged white position markers, single-coil Telecaster neck and middle pickups, humbucking bridge pickup, five-way pickup switching, three-ply pickguard (black-white-black), skirted black amp knobs (volume and tone) and black switch tip, Blacktop Telecaster bridge and chrome hardware. Finish options include Classic Copper, Ghost Silver and Three-color Sunburst.

The Blacktop Stratocaster HSH amps up the already blistering Blacktop Stratocaster HH model with the unusual addition of a single-coil Telecaster middle pickup amid the full-throttle neck and bridge humbucking pickups. A scorchingly formidable guitar that was already extremely versatile thus becomes even more so.

This guitar features an alder body, maple neck, 9.5″-radius rosewood fretboard with 22 medium jumbo frets and aged white position markers, humbucking neck and bridge pickups, single-coil Telecaster middle pickup, five-way pickup switching, three-ply pickguard (black-white-black), skirted black amp knobs (one volume, two tone) and black trem arm tip, Blacktop Stratocaster bridge and chrome hardware. Finish options are Black and Titanium Silver.

Those who prefer their big cats to purr rather than roar will love the alluring sound and lithe form of the Blacktop Jaguar 90. We’ve taken the humbucking pickup-equipped Blacktop Jaguar HH and outfitted it with two single-coil pickups that give it a whole new sonic personality. Distinctive features include the classic Jaguar 24″ scale, skirted black amp knobs (volume, tone) and an Adjusto-Matic™ bridge with stop tailpiece.

Other features include an alder body, maple neck, 9.5″-radius rosewood fretboard with 22 medium jumbo frets and aged white position markers, three-way toggle pickup switching, three-ply pickguard (black-white-black) and chrome hardware. Finish options include Two-color Sunburst and Candy Apple Red.

UK RRPs including VAT for all models are listed at £598.80, except the Blacktop two-color Sunburst which is £646.80.

NAMM 2012: Gibson Announces Ace Frehley “Budokan” Les Paul Custom

Gibson has just announced a brand-new signature Les Paul model based on Ace Frehley’s famed modified guitar, the one he hit the stage with at Nippon Budokan in Japan in 1977.

Gibson once again made use of digital scanning technology to get capture every last detail of Space Ace’s signature axe.

You can check out a video of Ace discussing his new guitar here, and be sure to keep up to date on everything happening at NAMM 2012 right here

From Gibson: In the image of the original Les Paul Custom, the guitar has a four-piece maple top glued to a mid-’70s “sandwich” body made from a middle and back section of solid mahogany joined by a thin maple veneer, with no chambering. The top is hand-sprayed in nitrocellulose to give it the same Heritage Cherry Sunburst finish as the original, with 150 hand-aged to match the wear of the existing guitar. The three-piece mahogany neck has been made made to match the original’s thin profile. Decorative elements include mother-of-pearl block fingerboard inlays, multi-ply body and headstock binding, mother-of-pearl Gibson headstock logo and split-diamond inlay, and a cream pickguard.

To match Ace’s original guitar, the Ace Frehley “Budokan” Les Paul Custom is loaded with three period-correct double-cream DiMarzio humbucking pickups—two PAF models in the neck and middle positions, and a Super Distortion in the bridge. And just like on Ace’s guitar, the traditional 3-way toggle switch has been modified to only allow the use of the bridge pickup, allowing you to be able to accomplish one of Ace’s most noted effects. The DiMarzio Super Distortion pickup offers searing lead tones and fat, chunky rhythm for the ultimate hard-rock performance. Hardware includes the classic pairing of chrome ABR-1 bridge and stopbar tailpiece, with Ace’s choice of Grover tuners with pearloid “banjo” buttons and Dunlop straplocks to keep the guitar securely strapped on through the wildest on-stage antics. In short, the Ace Frehley “Budokan” Les Paul Custom is the ultimate embodiment of mid-’70s arena-rock balls and bluster, and it’s available in strictly limited numbers. Check it out today at your authorized Gibson Custom dealer.

All guitars include a Gibson Custom hardshell case silkscreened with Ace’s signature. Aged/signed guitars (limited to 50 worldwide) are all played by the artist during final approval, and include a leather-bound Certificate of Authenticity; aged guitars (100) include a leather-bound CoA, and VOS guitars (150) include a standard CoA.

Shiny pedals, glittering string packets and guitars of every hue glow under the lights, while music fills the air. Welcome to the wonderful and exciting world of Fuzz.

Unlike its ‘sister’ shop, Guitar Base, with its workhorse approach of getting people into playing, tuition, repairs, community and school work and an Alladin’s cave of accessories – Fuzz is a guitar world apart. Here, Gibson, Fender, Rickenbacker, Musicman and Sandberg vie for your attention and spring into life via Blackstar, Orange, Marshall, Fender and Mark Bass amps.

Featuring a counter you can plug into and play, a Coca Cola fridge full of strings and accessories, a wall graffiti-ed by a world famous graffiti artist plus fashion T-shirts for players and non players – this is unlike any other guitar shop.

It is said that a pillow salesperson does not sell pillows, but dreams. Old and young alike, players and non players, can look and dream of owning that special Gibson or Fender guitar from Fuzz and take their first tentative steps via Epiphone or other starter guitar. But they will be back!

Knowledgeable staff, enthused by working in this musical environment, have a willingness to go the extra mile to sort out problems or seek out information for our customers.

If you are ever in Nottingham, visit the old Lace Market area with its eclectic mix of boutiques and relaxing cafes. Visit Fuzz and be pleasantly surprised!
